Many of the new faces in Sheridan County School District 2 aren't new.
Rather, they are familiar faces filling new positions. The district's Human Resources Coordinator Cody Sinclair said an interview committee of teachers, administrators and parents or other community members reviews and recommends potential staff. He added the committee and the school district look for the best candidates to fill positions.
Brent Leibach is the new principal at Sheridan High School, replacing Dirlene Wheeler who resigned last month. Leibach was formerly principal at Highland Park Elementary. The new Highland Park principal is now Scott Cleland , and his former job – assistant principal at the high school – has been filled by Cindy Dahl.
Her husband, Brett Dahl, is the new principal at Sagebrush Elementary School. He has been assistant principal at Sheridan Junior High School. That position was filled by Brad Gregorich, who has been teaching fourth grade at Coffeen Elementary School.
In addition to the principals and assistant principals, the district also hired 23 new teachers and other certified staff for the coming school year. The HR coordinator said the number of new certified employees typically is between 20 and 25 every year.
