At Monday night's Sheridan County School District 2 board meeting, the meeting began by recognizing the 2009-2010 District Teacher of the Year. This year, Sheridan High School Principal Dirleen Wheeler said that Carol Stewart, the Reading Specialist and Instructional Facilitator at SHS was chosen.
A telling comment Wheeler made to the board Monday night about Stewart was that she knew for a fact that had it not been for Stewart's help this past year, at least two students would not have received a diploma.
Wheeler says that teachers are nominated throughout the District and applications are submitted to a District Screening Committee, which then makes the selection of Teacher of the Year.
