Trustees for Sheridan County School District #2 voted 5-1 in favor of renewing a contract for the upcoming school year with Volunteers of America for the Accountability Change in Education, or ACE program. The lone dissenting vote came from Trustee Hollis Hackman, who expressed several concerns about the partnership.
Superintendent Craig Dougherty talked about why the School District has contracted with VOA and the Ace program since 2007.
The Ace program is a monitoring and reentry program for students who are suspended or expelled from the School District. The program works with the students on accountability issues with the goal of reentry back into school.
