The November Sheridan County School District 1 Board of Trustees meeting started an hour earlier than usual, to allow time for a presentation by Mark Higdon, President of the Wyoming School Board Association. He is spearheading the Superintendent Search to fill the position that will be vacated when Sue Belish retires at the end of this school year.
Belish outlines what will happen in the coming months.
Higdon said it's not unusual for an average of sixty or more people to inquire about an application, with approximately 25 to 30 actually completing the form.
He also encouraged the trustees to put together small committees of staff and community members to come up with a list of questions to ask candidates, as well as having a community forum.
Ultimately, the Board of Trustees will work towards whittling down the candidate pool to the top five or six and then begin interviews, hopefully by early March, 2011.
