During an information-packed Sheridan County School District 1 Board of Trustees meeting Monday evening in Ranchester, two main agenda items filled quite a bit of the three-hour gathering.

First, Trustees listened as Superintendent Sue Belish presented certificates and photo plaques for the District Wall of Fame to the following:

Laurie Graves, the 2011 Wyoming Teacher of the Year and District 1 Teacher of the Year; Brent Caldwell, Wyoming's 2010 National Distinguished Principal; Dianne Moser, the 2010 2A Girls Basketball Coach of the Year; Jami Laya-Harvey, the 2010 2A Volleyball Coach of the Year, and Christy Wright, the 2000 2A Volleyball Coach of the Year. Wright's is better late than never -- the "Wall of Fame" was not established until 2002.

After the presentations, the meeting recessed for a brief reception before resuming into the next significant agenda item, that of hearing presentations from the Tongue River side of the District on how students are performing in Reading, Writing and Math. Belish explains.

Belish says that it's a great time for the Board to hear from staff, to ask probing questions, to understand what is working and what is not, and to hear about goals.

And something Belish particularly likes about this tradition, she tells us.

The Board will hear from the Big Horn Elementary, Middle School and High School side at their regular board meeting in November.
