The School District 1 Board of Trustees will ultimately make the final decision on the new Superintendent.
The School District 1 Board of Trustees will ultimately make the final decision on the new Superintendent.

In no particular order, the finalists are:

Martin Kobza, a superintendent in Thermopolis, WY. He will visit District 1 February 7th and 8th to be interviewed by the School Board, tour all the schools in Big Horn, Ranchester and Dayton, and speak on both sides of the district to the public.

Donald A. Kirkegaard of Britton, South Dakota. He is currently the superintendent for the Britton-Hecla School District. He will also be in the District February 7th and 8th, with a reverse order from Kobza's schedule on each side of the district.

Dr. Paige Fenton-Hughes is a former superintendent from Fremont District 1, but is currently a district coach for the Department of Education in Cheyenne. She will visit District 1 February 16th and 17th.

After all the community forums, the public will provide feedback to the School Board, but ultimately the decision is up to the Trustees to choose the new superintendent.

Of this step in the process, Dow tells us.
