The Sheridan County Commissioners at their meeting Tuesday designated Sheridan County Emergency Management Coordinator Dave Coleman as the Applicant Agent with the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security to apply for federal financial assistance. In late July, Wyoming received a Federal Disaster Declaration from President Obama, which allows communities to seek financial assistance due to the flooding that occurred in the spring and early summer of this year.
Coleman says that the damage in Sheridan County was primarily to the roads and that a final figure is still being determined.
The federal assistance that Coleman will be applying for covers just Sheridan County, not the municipalities within the County.
Coleman said that FEMA was in the area last week touring the damage that was done to various roads throughout the County. Coleman added that the most extensive damage occurred to the Pass Creek Road area.
