The Sheridan Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees held a special meeting Wednesday to approve the purchase of digital mammography equipment in the amount of $231,308. The Hospital Foundation began raising funds for the equipment last fall with the 1st annual Pink Link run/walk that raised over $65,000.
Hospital Medical Imaging Manager Chris Bilyeu says that bringing this type of equipment to Sheridan is a long time coming.
As with any upgrade in technology, patient cost will be a bit higher; however, Bilyeu stated that they will strive to keep the price of the procedure lower than neighboring communities.
The digital mammography equipment will be paid for with monies raised by the foundation and gifted to the hospital. Bilyeu said that the new equipment should be available to patients by April 15th.
