DEQ Reviews Buffalo Projects

Buffalo City Works Director Les Hook reported to the council at their last meeting that two city projects are currently under review by the State Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

The first project is the replacement of the old, asbestos water supply line, a loop line from the high school to the south tank.

The second project is the Burritt Street reconstruction project.
Hook explained that project will require moving a water line and replacing a sewer line before they can begin resurfacing the street.

Hook tells us more about the projects.

City crews have been hauling gravel from the pit north of town, to re-surface the alleys in town. The owners of the pit told Hook they have a new user for their gravel, and suggested the city get what they need while it is still available, and his crews have been concentrating on that project. Two alleys have been completed as of the meeting, he said.

Finally, he reported that crews have been trimming branches and limbs from trees in the alleys on days when their was snow on the ground, preventing work on the alley surfaces.
