The Wyoming Department of Health and the Wyoming Dental Association has just released the first comprehensive oral health study of Wyoming residents in more than 20 years. The Oral Health Initiative report and the accompanying 26 specific recommendations are designed to improve Wyoming’s oral and overall health.
The legislatively directed OHI was aimed at answering key oral health questions central to better treatment, prevention, education and, ultimately, improved cost savings. Department of Health Director Dr. Brent Sherard talks about why the report is so important.
Dr. Sherard commended the Wyoming Dental Association for their involvement of the study, and said that the Wyoming Department of Education, school districts and school nurses throughout the state were also supportive. The full OHI report, as well as an executive summary can be found here.
