The Dayton Town Council met for their second regular meeting of May Wednesday evening, giving first reading to the Budget for Fiscal Year 2010-2011. Dayton Mayor Bob Wood.
Mayor Wood says that by dipping into their reserves, there will be no need to cut any jobs; however, they will also not be hiring any part time positions, except for the people managing the Art Badget Pool.
In 2008, Mayor Wood says they had a budget of about $1 million. This year that amount has decreased to about $400,000, and he says it's more important than ever before for voters to renew the Optional One Cent Sales Tax.
Of projects that they will make a priority, Mayor Wood says that thanks to past CAP Tax dollars, most of their major projects are complete or well on the way to completion. Any CAP Tax monies that come in for the Town this year will go toward maintenance needs.
