Construction of a new Day Break facility is just a start for planned changes at the Sheridan Senior Center.
Center Director Carmen Rideout said Day Break is the first project in a proposed capital expansion plan expected to cost around $7.5 million.
She said the facility will remain at the Smith Street location.
She and Development Director Rindy West said they have been talking with community leaders and others. The goal is to determine how the facility needs to expand and renovate to meet the future needs of Sheridan County's aging population.
The senior center has been on Smith Street since 1980. The building has been expanded and remodeled several times, most recently in 2004, as the center has added services to the county's senior population.
