The Buffalo Community Resource Center will hold its 2nd Annual "Golf for a Cause" event this Saturday at the Buffalo Golf Club. The tournament is a benefit for those battling cancer in the community, to help with expenses involved with treatment.
Julia Bettinger with the CRC in Buffalo said $14,000 was raised at last year’s tournament, all of which went directly to help locals with those expenses.
According to information provided by the CRC, the odds of getting a hole in one are 1 in 18,000, but the odds of getting cancer are 2 in 5. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the Wyoming and the US.
2,540 new cases of cancer were diagnosed in Wyoming last year alone, so early detection through screening can save lives. The CRC helps provide those screenings in our community, Bettinger said.
The golf tournament has their sponsors in place, but those that want to play can build their teams and participate, and of course, donations to the event are gladly accepted.
Raffle tickets are still available for $20 each or 6 for $100. Prizes, a silent auction and the raffle will all take place after the tournament Saturday.
Check-in for the tournament is at 7:30 am with the shotgun start at 8 am. Entry fees are $400 per team.
