Court Rules in Favor of City of Sheridan in Summary of Judgment Hearing

A Summary of Judgment hearing was held this morning in 4th Judicial District Court in Sheridan regarding the local Firefighters Union lawsuit against the City of Sheridan over wage increases that were denied last year. District Court Judge John Fenn ruled from the bench that there was no requirement in the collective labor agreement between the Firefighters Union and the City that the wage increases must be given.

Last year, the Firefighters Union filed a grievance with the City for denying 5% step up wage increases for six personnel with Sheridan Fire-Rescue. A grievance hearing was held and the City Council voted to back staff's decision to not grant the wage increases.

Now that District Court has ruled in favor of the City, the Firefighters Union's only recourse would be to appeal the decision to the Wyoming Supreme Court.
