Sheridan County's Board of Commissioners awarded the job of repairing the airport parking lot to L&S Contractors this morning even though they were not the lowest bidder for the project. Commissioner, Mike Nickel, said there were multiple problems with the low bidding contractor when they were hired for a project at the airport in 2009.
AZ Asphalt had submitted a bid that was $15,500 lower than L&S's estimate. Mike Collins addressed the board on behalf of AZ, expressing his disappointment with their decision.
The list of grievances Stopka submitted to the commissioners that ultimately contributed to their decision to go with a different contractor is attached at the end of this story. L&H will do the project for just over $64,400.
