County Public Works Department Gearing Up For A Busy Fall

The Sheridan County Commissioners considered releasing their interest in parts of Dayton East and Dayton-Ohlman Roads, yesterday. Dayton-Ohlman is one of the oldest Sheridan County roads. Records from that time are not the best and the County is still researching to make sure the legal descriptions are accurate. County Public Works Director Rod Liesinger says they just finished maintenance on that portion of road.

Area landowners had asked the County to vacate the road but the Town of Dayton offered to take over the road so that it can be maintained as an emergency route for Dayton Fire and Rescue. The Commissioners tabled the matter until the descriptions can be verified.

In addition to this week’s work on Wildcat and Buffalo Creek Roads, portions of the Acme Road will see some finalizing construction as the Abandoned Mine Lands project in the Kleenburn area gets close to completion.

They expect to have the area open to the public again by next month.
