The Law Enforcement Center Agreement was left on the table at yesterday’s Sheridan County Commission meeting. The Commissioners had already postponed the matter in June. County Commissioner Terry Cram tells us why they are delaying action on the contract:
The Law Enforcement Center Joint Powers Board approved changing the rate that the City of Sheridan is billed for housing inmates in the jail. The going rate is $65 per day. That substantially increased the cost to the City, and did not include credit for dispatch services provided by the City. That change was never approved by the County Commission or the City Council:
The County may not see any revenue from the City until this matter is cleared up and the new agreement approved. The Sheriff must now go back and re-build invoices based on the old formula for the first 6 months of 2009.
