Johnson County's Commissioners have awarded the funds for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (or TANF) Grant for 2014.
Three agencies in Johnson County applied for funding this year, according to Susan Carr, Executive Director of Child Advocacy Services of the Big Horns.
She explained to the commissioners that the State of Wyoming had awarded just over $56,000 to the county this year in TANF Grant funds, which is an increase from the $41,000 awarded I in 2013, due to the increase in applications for funding this year.
Even with the funding increase this year, it was well below the almost $75,000 applied for by three separate agencies.
She explained the process further.
After some discussion, the commissioners chose to award the available funding in the percentages of the total amount each applied for.
CASA will receive $11,655; the Boys and Girls Club will receive $13,534.50; and the Buffalo Children's Center will get $30,884.50.
