Various board and council positions were officially filled at last week's Buffalo City Council and Johnson County Commission meetings.
At the county commissioner's meeting Tuesday, the commission approved Virginia Fowler to the Harold Jarrard Park Board; Melvin Keffer to the Jim Gatchell Museum Board; and Mike Mestemaker to the Buffalo-Johnson County Justice Center Joint Powers Board.
At the city council meeting Tuesday evening, the council accepted Scott Madsen as their newest council member, after he was sworn in.
Madsen was recommended to replace former councilman Justin Gerard, who resigned last month amid controversy stemming from charges for possession and intent to distribute a controlled substance.
Madsen will serve the remainder of former councilman Bruce Hepp's term that will be up at the end of 2012. Madsen must run in this year's election to earn his seat past December 31st.
