Johnson County's Commissioners have awarded the contract to provide fuel to the county's vehicles and equipment to Good To Go Stores, LLC which was formerly the Red Eagle Exxon at the intersection of Highway 16 and Interstate 90.
The commissioners had the public bid opening at their meeting this week and read the bids from both the contract winner and from Big Horn Co-Op, who were the only two companies to submit bids.
Big Horn Co-Op bid regular unleaded fuel at $3.3131109 per gallon; premium at $3.80109; No.2 diesel at $3.61865; and dyed diesel at $3.39265 per gallon.
Good To Go, LLC's bids were unleaded at $3.2449; premium at $3.5249; No. 2 diesel at $3.6002; and dyed diesel at $3.3852 per gallon.
These are all the county's cost per gallon of fuel.
County Road and Bridge Supervisor Scott Pehringer was concerned about 24-hour access to fuel at Good To Go, and asked the commissioners to delay awarding the contract until he could find out if the county could get fuel 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The commissioners tabled the decision until that afternoon, when Pehringer reported the county would be able to access fuel 24/7.
The contract is good for one year beginning August 1, 2014 and runs through July 31st, 2015.
