Sheridan City Councilman John Bigelow attended his last meeting as acting Councilor Monday night, as he's turned in his resignation to be a Deacon at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan. Bigelow has been a councilor since 2008, when he was appointed to finish the remainder of Tom O'Leary's term for Ward Two. Bigelow won the vote of the people during the election of 2008 and would have been up for re-election this November. Just before the conclusion of Monday night's meeting, Mayor Dave Kinskey said that Councilman Bigelow was part of many tough decisions while serving on the Council.

Bigelow followed up the Mayor's words with some words of his own.

Since Bigelow's resignation takes effect at the end of this month, the Council elected a new council president and vice president. The Council elected John Heath to serve as President and Robert Webster to continue to serve as Vice President. The Council also approved on third reading a special improvement district for the Sheridan Commercial Park.
