Council Tables Rezone Request

Mr. Hart is looking to rezone his property on KROE Lane from B-Business to M-1 Industrial.

A petition to rezone 2.6 acres of land at 600 KROE Lane was tabled by the Sheridan City Council Monday night. The owner of the property, Mr. Hart, is seeking to rezone the property from B-1 Business to M-1 Industrial to make the property more marketable. When addressing the Council, he also stated that all of the property to the east of him is zoned M-1, as the City in 2010 rezoned the Shelby tract and the old CNZ property as M-1 Industrial.

The hangup by the Council is the old CNZ property that's been turned into a salvage yard. The Council expressed concerns, as did nearby property owner John Smith, that if the request to rezone were granted, it could very well end up in similar disarray. While the Council did table the item until their next meeting, Councilors Steve Brantz and Robert Webster voted against the motion. Councilman Webster.

With the way the calender falls in July, it will be three weeks before the item is once again considered by the Council, as their next meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 6th.
