Cost Per Credit Hour Increasing At Sheridan College

At the Northern Wyoming Community College District(NWCCD) monthly meeting Thursday in Buffalo, Sheridan College's Administration requested a $5 increase in the cost of a credit hour to take effect in the 2013-14 school year.

The increase will take the current rate of $23 per credit hour up to $28 per credit hour next year.

Cheryl Heath, Vice President for Administration & Chief Financial Officer of Sheridan College, explained the need for the increase, saying the college has not increased fees since 2009.

Student fee funds are split with half going to student activities and the other half going to institutional activities.

Student government representatives at the meeting said they and students they have spoken to are okay with the increase in credit hour fees.

The increase will place costs to attend Sheridan College squarely in the middle of the range of community colleges in the state , which range from $17 to $36 per credit hour, according to Heath.

The Board approved the credit hour fee increase.
