Contractor Working on 'Issues' at WWTP

States West Engineer Brook Stromer reported the status of the city's new wastewater treatment plant to the Buffalo City Council Tuesday. Johnson County News Director for Sheridan Media, Aaron Palmer, with the report.

Stromer said there was a “lull” in activity recently, and that the contractor is correcting mainly aesthetic issues. An official walk-through of the plant, he said, is scheduled for next week.

Stromer did say, however, that the engineers and contractors are still dealing with unforeseen issues as the plant comes together.

The City will know more on the status of the plant in the coming weeks.

Also at the meeting Tuesday, the Council heard a report from Dave Palmerlee of the Buffalo Trails Board, who explained the board applied to the Rec Board for $125,000 to extend the Clear Creek Walking Trail through Mosier Gulch to tie in with US Forest Service trails on the Bighorn National Forest west of Buffalo.

The board will contract with Arrowhead Trails to build the trail and is looking at an agreement with the USFS to maintain the trail once it is built. Construction of the trail is expected to begin and finish this summer.
