Buffalo's Carousel Committee has begun a contest to collect coins and cash for the carousel project.
“Coins For The Carousel” is a contest where local businesses put out an “official” collection jar for donations that will help cover the expenses involved in the purchase of a new home for and the move of the carousel itself.
The business that collects the most for the carousel will be rewarded and all participating businesses will be recognized, according to the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce.
Rachel McCaughey with the Chamber said Armette Tiller with the Carousel Committee is putting together the collection jars and talking to local businesses about displaying them in their stores.
McCaughey said interest from visitors to Buffalo has been good so far, and they have been willing to help.
Although there is no list of participating businesses yet, residents should watch for the collection jars to donate if they so choose.
The contest closes August 31st.
Businesses interested in displaying a collection jar can contact Arnette at 620-1691, and those needing more information can contact the Chamber of Commerce at 684-5544.
