Family and friends of Dana Barton gathered with her Saturday night at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall to show her their support in a big way during her recovery from Stage 3 Colon Cancer. Barton's daughter Amy Herring, who helped organize the fundraiser along with her family, says this event was one of the few high points since her mother was diagnosed this past January.
About $25,000 was raised, and an estimated 200 people attended the event. Items including Tim McGraw and Wyoming Cowboy football tickets, a trip to Vegas and a biplane ride were all auctioned off in both a silent and a live auction.
Barton has undergone seven of her 12 chemotherapy treatments that were scheduled to follow her surgery this past February. Money raised will go to support Barton's medical expenses not covered by insurance.
