With the seasonal flu season just around the corner, Sheridan County Health officials are gearing up for another busy year of immunizations. This year of course, much of the discussion about influenza is focused on the swine flu. The Wyoming Department of Health reports that there are 179 laboratory confirmed cases of the H1N1 virus and one reported death. There are five lab confirmed cases of swine flu in Sheridan County.
Sheridan County Community Health Nurse Katie Hiller says that as of now, the swine flu doesn't appear to be anymore severe than the typical seasonal flu.
While the Centers for Disease Control have not yet released a date as to when the swine flu vaccination will be available, Hiller said that Community Health will start to administer seasonal flu shots in early October.
