Johnson County's Commissioners approved the purchase of additional shelving units for the Clerk Of Court's offices at the new judicial center.
The additional shelving will be for an archive room that was not part of the original bid. The bid, according to Commissioner Smokey Wildeman, did not include the shelving and therefore the bid was $25,000 under the original cost estimate for that area of the new building.
He said the county received two bids for the additional shelving and explained the differences.
The Office had expressed concerns with the manufacturer of the shelving units they used in the bid and said they weren't sure they could provide the units to the county in a timely fashion.
County Clerk Of Court Thelma Axberg has used the shelving units from Plainsman ans is familiar with them and told the commissioners she would prefer to use them if possible.
The commissioners approved the $15,470 purchase and will use funds from the judicial center project's furniture account.
