Sheridan and Johnson county commissioners will meet at 9 o'clock Monday morning to appoint a new state senator for District 22.
The meeting will be in the commissioners' board room, second floor of the Sheridan County Courthouse.
Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinskey, former Sheridan resident Ryan Wright of Buffalo, and James Campetro of Johnson County were nominated in a meeting Tuesday night in Story. District 22 includes all of Johnson County and part of Sheridan County, including a small portion of the city of Sheridan, where Kinskey lives.
Sheridan County Commission Chairman Terry Cram said all of the commissioners of both counties will be at next week's meeting. Johnson County Commissioner Delbert Eitel (EYE-tul) was one of the 10 candidates seeking appointment to the senate seat. Cram said if he had been chosen as one of the three nominees, he would have had to excuse himself from Monday's meeting. That would have meant only two of Johnson County's commissioners could vote on the senate appointment.
The Sheridan County commission chairman said selection of a new senator will be weighted in favor of Sheridan County because more people live in the Sheridan County portion of the district than in Johnson County.
