Earlier this month members of the Johnson County Library Board gave a report to the county commissioners about cracks in the foundation and walls at the Kaycee Library.
Preliminary inspections pointed to settling of the building and substandard soils where the building sits as possible contributors to the problem, and the commissioners approved $5,000 for a more in-depth inspection to be conducted on the site to gather more information.
Structural Engineer Joe Hall, with KLA Engineering in Buffalo, conducted the structural analysis on the Kaycee Library.
Library Director Cynthiaa Twing gave an update on his findings at this week's commissioner's meeting.
His recommendations were to make repairs to the walls an foundation and then monitor the building for a year to see if there are any changes or if damage reappears.
The soils analysis was deemed unnecessary at this time.
The Library Board will seek quotes for the work and oversee getting the repairs done to the Kaycee Library.
