Earlier this month the Sheridan County Commissioners postponed a request for a conditional use permit from Dennis Cathey to operate a portable sawmill on his property at 498 Wildcat Road.
The reasoning behind the postponement was to give Mr. Cathey a chance to mitigate some of the Commissioners concerns and to give the neighbors an opportunity to weigh in on the request.
The Commissioners voted unanimously to deny the CUP request. Commissioner Bob Rolston says that it came down to sticking with the County's Comprehensive Plan.
Rolston said that another reason for denying the sawmill was the overwhelming response from the neighbors who were in opposition.
The County Planning and Zoning Commission also denied the CUP request at their meeting in June.
