The Sheridan County Commissioners awarded the contract for a new hearing room at the Sheridan County Courthouse to O'Dell Construction in the amount of $368,700 Tuesday morning.
Sheridan County Administrative Director Renee' Obermueller says that they needed to show the state that they were moving forward with the project before the legislature approves a new Judge.
The hearing room will accommodate the need for an additional Judge in 4th Judicial District Court. and will be located on the 3rd floor of the new addition of the Courthouse.
The new hearing room will not be suited for jury trials. Plans are for the new Judge to split time between Sheridan and Johnson County.
Obermueller said that construction on the new hearing room will begin in the next 6 to 8 weeks with a tentative goal of having it complete by the summer of 2012.
