Sheridan County Commissioners met for their regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday. They awarded the bid for the East Ridge Road project to Dan Hart Patrol Services out of Upton in the amount of $532,244. County Engineer Ken Muller stated that they received 10 bids in total for the project, and that the lowest bid came in much lower than the estimate of $703,387. He explains what the project will entail.
Muller said that the project is expected to begin in the spring. Commissioners also gave their support to have staff apply for a grant through the Wyoming Access Program that is for local road construction or re-construction projects which allow the public to access federal lands. The $2.2 million grant would allow the County to fix approximately 5.6 miles of Red Grade Road on top of the mountain.
If awarded the grant, Sheridan County will use $209,220 in Capital Facilities Tax dollars to meet the County's matching funds requirement.
