Johnson County's newest Commissioner, Jim Hicks, was sworn into office during a brief ceremony Monday morning at the new judicial center.
Fourth Judicial District Judge William Edelman performed the ceremony in the District Courtroom just before noon.
Hicks, who has served as Mayor of Buffalo and also volunteered his time on various boards, said he is ready to go to work as county commissioner.
When asked what project the commissioners will be concentrating on first, Hicks said the lease of water at Lake DeSmet will be the priority at least initially.
Hicks will have his first commission meeting Tuesday beginning at 9am in the Historic Courthouse.
