This past Tuesday night, the Sheridan County Republican Party Central Committee selected three candidates to fill the vacant Sheridan County Clerk position. Linda St. Clair, David DeBolt and Eda Thompson were the three applicants that were forwarded on to the County Commissioners to decide who'll fill the vacant seat.
The Commissioner's held a special meeting Thursday to interview the three candidates. When could they start? How would they handle the first 30 days? What would be their greatest challenges as County Clerk if appointed? These were some of the several questions Commissioners asked the candidates. After a brief executive session, the Commission selected Eda Thompson to fill the Interim County Clerk position. Thompson comments on being chosen.
Thompson explains one of the biggest challenges she'll face with her new job.
Immediately after the appointment, 4th Judicial District Court Judge John Fenn swore in Thompson as Interim County Clerk. As far as if she'll be running for the position in the upcoming election? Thompson said she has not yet made that decision. Thompson's first official day on the job will be Monday, April 12th.
