At Tuesday's Sheridan County Commission meeting, the board accepted the County's budget request for the next fiscal year. By Wyoming statute, the County's budget officer, in this case, Renee Obermueller, is required to file with the Board prior to May 15th, a requested budget comprised of all County departments' requested expenditures and estimated revenues. Obermueller tells us how things look before finalizing the budget.
Obermueller explains that in order to get the budget down, some positions needed to be cut.
She says that the employees know that in October they will be let go, giving them time to find another job. Obermueller noted that was the only fair thing to do.
Now that the Commission has accepted the Budget request, Renee's office will have until mid-July to fine-tune the numbers to reach the $17.6 million total.
