Construction is wrapping up at Sheridan College for the first time since 2012, but a new building phase is already being planned.
Vice President Cheryl Heath presented a construction update to the Northern Wyoming Community College District trustees at their meeting Wednesday night.
Heath, who is also the chief financial officer, said the Thorne-Rider Campus Center and Whitney Mall will be completed by the time classes start. Also nearing completion are Phase 1 of the new Tech Center, the Griffith Memorial Building and the large-animal science center being built on Sheridan's north side.
The college district will resume building next spring, with the North Whitney Arts and Mars ag center and science facility in Sheridan and an education and activities center on the Gillette campus. The northern Wyoming district administers Sheridan College and the satellite Gillette College and Johnson County campus.
In other action on Wednesday, trustees re-appointed Dr. Young to represent the district on the Sheridan Education and Economic Development Association board. That organization is also known as SEEDA.
Trustee Walt Wragge said he has been updating the district's board of trustees orientation book. He said the book should be updated every two years, coinciding with board elections, to benefit new trustees. He said the updated book will include the strategic plans for the Sheridan and Gillette colleges, and the trustees' code of ethics.
