The Coffeen Elementary PTO Books for Bingo event will be open to the entire community this Thursday when they will raise money for more than just the PTO.
Angie Hillier is with the Coffeen PTO, she tells us that night they will raise money for another cause called Pennies for Patients, selling popcorn and other baked goods for 25 cents.
Six-year-old Jacob Ahrens was a student at Coffeen Elementary who passed away earlier this month after a battle with brain cancer. In March and February Pennies for Patients targets schools to raise money and she said they decided to try and use the large number of donated baked goods from Jacob's memorial service to turn around and give back.
Held in once in the spring and once in the fall, the Books for Bingo event is open to all families this time.
Books for Bingo will be this Thursday night from 6 to 7:45 at Coffeen Elementary.
