CODY, Wyo. (AP) - A proposal by the Cody City Council to ban feeding deer in the city is drawing a heated response from residents on both sides of the issue. Mayor Nancy Tia Brown says the city thought the proposed ban would be innocuous. But she says the city has received a lot of responses on the proposal. Wyoming Game and Fish Department warden Craig Sax says that feeding deer can keep the population artificially high, leading to disease. He says a high deer population could also lure large predators into the city. The Cody Enterprise reports that the city council recently delayed action on the proposed ban on feeding deer to get more information from the game department.
