With the increasing need for coal in Asia, the production and shipping of the mineral out of the Powder River Basin is expected to increase significantly over the next several years. Route optimization for shipping the coal via railway has been an issue that has been talked about for the past four decades, and once again that issue is on the table.
Stender explains the options that are currently being looked at to mitigate the “choke point” in Sheridan.
