A little over five years ago the Sheridan Housing Action Committee was formed to establish affordable housing initiatives and to help prospective homeowners realize their dream of home ownership. In a little over two months, SHAC will close their doors permanently due to a lack of resources says Board President Bill Rapp.
Rapp explains how the closure will affect homeowners who have homes financed through SHAC.
Rapp said that during SHAC'S existence, they provided over one million dollars in closing cost or down payment assistance to 67 home buyers and assisted 101 buyers in acquiring some type of affordable housing funding. Rapp said that additionally, SHAC counseled over 350 househoulds in their effots to secure housing in the community, and built and sold 7 homes on their own.
