Clearmont Student Wins Writing Award

An Arvada/Clearmont High School senior, Judah Lovato, son of Mike and Linda Lovato, won the state competition for Poetry Outloud this past weekend, and will now be traveling to Washington DC to represent Wyoming in the national competition at the end of April.

Lovato won an all-expenses-paid trip, accompanied by a chaperon, to DC for three nights. He also won $200, along with $500 for his school to use in the purchase of poetry books.

Poetry Outloud is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation.  In Wyoming, the Wyoming Arts Council administers the program.  Lovato first had to win a classroom competition and then a school competition to qualify to represent the school at State.

Lovato is planning to pursue a career in music education.
