The teenagers arrested Monday in connection with a triple homicide in Clark told investigators they stole handguns from a store in Cody and were attempting to steal a vehicle to escape to Denver when the murders took place.
The Billings Gazette reports the accused showed police where they hid the murder weapons. A search of the teens' shared apartment turned up eight handguns and twelve boxes of ammunition. Cody residents who knew the suspects reported they were heavy drug users.
The Associated Press reports 19-year-old Stephen Hammer and 18-year-old Tanner Vanpelt are being held in jail without bond and have been appointed public defenders.
