The Buffalo Police Department and Johnson County Sheriff recently performed alcohol compliance checks within the City of Buffalo, Town of Kaycee and at establishments in the county and overall had only one establishment sell, according to Buffalo Police Chief Jason Carder.
Carder gave a report to the City Council earlier this week, saying both agencies conducted the checks with only City Liquor of Buffalo actually making a sale.
Carder also said the police have completed the deer management program for this year.
The goal, he said, was to try to remove 60 deer from the city limits and as of last Friday, December 14th, when they ended the program, his officers had harvested 61 deer.
All of the deer were tested for Chronic Wasting Disease and none came back positive, he said. One of the deer came back positive last year and the carcass was destroyed.
The meat from the deer harvested was processed locally and donated to the Bread of Life Food Pantry and will not go to waste.
