The Sheridan City Council tabled the bid award for upgrades to the Big Goose and Sheridan Water Treatment plants at their last meeting. Monday night, the Council rejected those bids, and at staff's recommendation, made the decision to do the project in stages. City of Sheridan Utilities Director Dan Roberts.
Roberts said that he learned during recent discussions with the EPA, that the City could file for a three year extension to have the mandated upgrades in place at the treatment plants. He added that the City shouldn't have to go that route now that they'll be doing the project in stages.
The EPA regulations that the City must adhere to with both waste water treatment plants are to safeguard against cryptosporidium, which is a microscopic parasite that can make its way into public drinking water.
