Wednesday's Sheridan City Council budget work session was the second half of the Water and Sewer Utility presentation that focused primarily on privatization of capital projects and proposed rate increases.
City staff has been working extensively over the past year with the consulting firm of Stepwise Utility Advisers to work on short and long range financial goals.
The consultants are proposing four years of rate increases to the City's water and sewer utilities. The average customer would see about a $5.00 increase on their monthly water and sewer bill.
Stepwise Consultant Fletcher Davis says that upgrades to the City's Water Treatment Plant is what prompted the proposal for rate increases.
Davis said that other projects that are driving the rate increase include the Big Goose Clearwell project and distribution lines for the Wyoming-Park project.
