Sheridan is home to a brewery, but what about a winery? Well, Weston Wineries, LLC recently filed an application for a winery license for an establishment in Warehouse 201 in downtown Sheridan. Sheridan Media's Chris Foy has the details.
At Monday night's meeting of the Sheridan City Council, the councilors agreed to approve the request - but under the condition that the company receives approval from the state liquor commission.
Prior to the meeting, the state liquor commission offered an opinion to the city council that the council not approve the application. The council took action not to follow the advice of the commission, on grounds that it would be an excellent addition to Sheridan. But the councilors agreed that they must have the state's approval before moving forward. Mayor Dave Kinskey explains.
John Harrison, a consultant for the winery, addressed the council along with the president of Weston Wineries, Jessica Fleenor. Harrison says Weston Wineries plans on being much more than a wine bar.
Mayor Kinskey tells Sheridan Media he plans on writing a letter to the liquor commission recommending they approve the application for the winery.
