On August 29th, the Sheridan City Council held a special meeting to approve the submission of a Community Development Block Grant through the Business Council to purchase and revitalize the Wilson Trust Animal Hospital property. At that time the City executed a purchase agreement in accordance with the grant application to purchase the Wilson property in the amount of $930,000.
The funding for the purchase would come from the CDBG in the amount of $500,000, with the remaining $430,000 coming from the Sheridan County YMCA and private donations. In order for the grant to be considered by the Business Council, the City Council had to approve the purchase agreement, which they did at their meeting Monday night. YMCA Executive Director Jay McGinnis says that the location is very convenient and provides ample opportunities that the public could enjoy.
The entire agreement between the City, the YMCA and the Wilson Land Trust is contingent on the Business Council approving the grant, which will not be considered until next month. The Wilson Trust Property is located just west of the Sheridan County YMCA at 334 North Jefferson Street.
