The City of Sheridan has had to layoff employees over the last three years to make cuts to cover declining sale and use tax revenues. During Friday's City Council budget work session, Human Resources Director Heather Doke explained to the Council that layoffs won't be happening this year.
Doke also informed Councilors that the City's general fund is comprised of a little over $2 million that goes towards employee benefits.
Health insurance alone, the City spends $1.2 million annually. Doke stated that employees health insurance premiums will increase by 4 percent for the coming fiscal year.
