Child Development Center Opens New Location

The Child Development Center Region 2 is based here in Sheridan and has outgrown it’s Linden Street facility. For the past two years they have been using rooms in the old Highland Park school to accommodate the increase in children qualifying for services. The Center receives Federal and some State funding to provide help for children with developmental delays until they turn 5-years-old.

Yesterday the CDC officially opened its new building on South Sheridan Avenue. CDC Director Sandy O’Dell says that purchasing the former “I Can” building was much more cost effective than expanding the Linden location.

CDC Board Chairman Valerie Spanos (SPAN-ohss) says the center is planning for increased enrollment at the same time projected revenues are declining.

They needed to make very few changes to the new CDC-South campus for their students since the building was designed to be a pre-school originally.
